Basement Concrete Foundation Repair - Don't Let The Problem
Expand
A seemingly small leak in your basement can mean serious
problems for the foundation of your home.
A leaky basement can be caused by many things. Foundations
sometimes shift and crack, which of course allows water in. But
a more common cause is a lawn that is not properly sloped away
from the home, but instead slopes into it. We all know that
water flows downhill, and if that downhill path heads straight
for your basement, you could be in for a serious headache. Two
aspirin won't help. You need to do some basement
concrete foundation repair.
There are several ways to do these repairs. Some are
reasonably cost effective, others meanwhile will be very
expensive. Perhaps the cheapest method of basement concrete
foundation repair is a simple patch. Go to any hardware store
and you'll find a good selection of mixes designed to fix small
leaks quickly and effectively. Clean the area where the patch
will go and get to work. Use a wire brush first and rough up
the area around where the patch will go. This will make sure
the mix has a secure hold. It's a useful and easy fix, but
unfortunately not applicable in all repair situations.
A larger crack or leak needs more forceful and larger
materials. In some cases you'll even need to clear away dirt
from the foundation to properly fix the concrete. That means
excavation and it can be very expensive, although if you think
long term, it can actually be saving you money. Home prices
continue to rise, and you need a secure foundation. Your home
is most likely your largest investment and needs to be treated
like it. So whatever it takes to do your basement concrete
foundation repair, it's well worth spending the time and money
to do it right.
Just remember that if water caused the problem in the first
place, you need to make sure that the problem won't return, or
you'll be patching frequently. Keep the water away from your
home, fix any cracks, and enjoy your basement while protecting
your investment.
